The Zimbabwe Junior Golf Open tournament is set for an epic finale this Sunday with the competition going a gear up at the Borrowdale Brooke Golf Club in Harare this Saturday.

The highly competitive tourney took another twist this Saturday in the boys’ stroke with South Africa’s Devon Valentine tied overnight leader and countryman, Marno Lange on a one-under-par score.

Another South African golfer, Ethan Fichadt occupies the third spot not too far behind the leading pack, with a two over par score, while Zimbabwe’s Vincent Chidambazina is on fourth position with a four over par score tied with China’s Shijie Li and Connor Olfsen of South Africa.

On the girls’ stroke play, the South African dominance is more magnified, with three of its nationals leading the rankings, while Zimbabwe’s duo of Zarina Makwarimba and Miriam Masiya are tied on the seventh spot.

The South Africans’ footprint at the tournament is more pronounced and they appear favourites to lift the coveted trophy in both the girls’ and boys’ categories although it will not come too easy for them with countries like China and Zimbabwe breathing on their necks in the decisive phase of the tournament.

Over 60 players from eight different countries are featuring at the tournament, with Zimbabwe having contributed 21 of the players.
