Bulawayo giants Highlanders believe Sunday’s local derby against in-form Bulawayo Chiefs has a lot at stake than a mere three points.
Highlanders have been poor in front goal and have scored just eight goals in 11 matches, a poor return by any standards.
It is no surprise that the Bulawayo giants have drawn seven matches out of 11 encounters, failing to beat league debutants like Sheasham and Green Fuel in the process.
The fans have already started looking for redemption in the transfer window, but Highlanders coach Baltemer Brito is convinced it’s still early days to press the panic button.
This Sunday Bosso have an uphill task against inform local rivals Bulawayo Chiefs and Brito is convinced the game is an opportunity for Highlanders to revert to the famous attacking brand of football.
“We have had a bad phase and we have been helping the boys to have that confidence. Coming to Sunday’s game, it is a game that we want to use to show who we are and our style of play. If you look at the team last year and this year, you will be convinced there has been some improvement,” he noted.
Bosso welcome back enterprising young star Prince Ndlovu from a trial stint in Europe and the young lad is relishing to don the black and white stripe against the Twitter Boys.
“I have learnt a lot about football and I hope we will find the scoring form. It’s not all about individuals but us as the collective,” Ndlovu says.
After being given a chance in the first eleven, former Bulawayo City striker Elishama Farasi is hoping to prove his class.
“We are looking forward to this game but as a derby, we know what is at stake,” said Farasi.
Highlanders will be without the services of the injured Divine Mhindirira, Brighton Manhire, Calvin Chigonero and Melikhaya Ncube who is suspended.
