LOG leaders Highlanders are hoping to take their rich form to Gweru when they face new boys, Sheasham who will be playing at their home ground for the first time this season.
Sitting at the apex of the Premier Soccer league log standings with 14 points and a game in hand, Bulawayo giants Highlanders have raised hopes that the class of 2023 could end Bosso’s league drought which spans over seventeen years.
Coach Baltemor Brito is the man behind Bosso’s recent success, but their title credentials will be tested once again this weekend when the Bulawayo giants face new Boys Sheasham at the recently approved Bata stadium in Gweru.
“So that is a new game but our approach is always the game. We have been working with the boys to prepare for the game. Sheasham are not push overs,” said Brito.
“They have lost once. We had a friendly match about them having played them during the pre-season. It is about creating the right mindset for the game. We need to collect maximum points,” he added.
Highlanders do not have good recent memories from the city of progress after going down one-nil to relegated Whawha last season.
While that could be water under the bridge, the Mushore brothers Mason and McKinnon are aware of the task at hand.
“The coaches have done a good job and we are ready for the challenge.it has been our dream to play for a big club as brothers,” noted Mason Mushore.
“Just as usual focusing on one match at a time. Just have to focus on match on Sunday not thinking about a lot of things the point is going there and collect maximum points,” said McKinnon Mushore.
“We have started well so we just want to continue and aim higher. It is every players’ dream to done the black and white stripe. The club had produced fine stars and we had no option but to grab it. It is a dream come true for us,” added Mason.
Log leaders Highlanders, second placed Ngezi Platinum and draw specialists Chicken inn are the only three sides yet to taste defeat this season, a feat they would want to maintain in their quest for the league title.
