GWERU-based Premier Soccer League debutants Sheasham Football Club have promised fireworks in their season opener against Chicken Inn in a match to be played at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane this Saturday.
The PSL newcomers, who have been having a restless pre-season build up, are set to test the waters in the top flight as they travel to Mandava Stadium for their home match against the Gamecocks who finished second in the just-ended season.
The team’s gaffer, John Nyikadzino will pin his hopes on striker Tanaka Chidhobha who is formerly at Dynamos as well as the team’s top goal scorer in the previous season, Liberty Musvaure, among others.
Nyikadzino said, ‘‘I am very excited that we have travelled this far. It has been quite a journey and we are here to mean business. I am happy that I have a clean bill of health ahead of tomorrow’s encounter. I am quite aware that most of my players are newcomers to the PSL but we are here to mean business. Chicken Inn side are a powerful team and we are getting in the game well aware of that. We take each game as it comes and we believe in team work which have seen us travel this far.’’
The Construction Boys have been having a series of friendlies with the likes of Black Rhinos, Dynamos, Ngezi Platinum as well as Highlanders as a build up to the season’s opener.
The PSL debutants has opted to use Mandava stadium since Ascot has not been approved to host PSL matches.
In a statement, PSL spokesperson Kudzai Bare says the league has suspended the use of Ascot Stadium and Vengere Stadium after the stadia failed to meet the minimum requirements by ZIFA.
Bare said the stadia will only host PSL matches until the necessary requirements are met.
