NEWLY promoted Chipinge-based side, Green Fuel have promised to take the top-flight league by storm after stepping up their preparations for the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.
Green Fuel became the first team from Chipinge District to be promoted into the PSL after a trailblazing season in the Eastern Region Division One league where they swept their opponents aside with the mark of a Giant in the making.
The league debutants have now set their eyes on a top-five finish under the leadership of Head coach, Lloyd Mutasa.
Green Fuel Head Coach Lloyd Mutasa noted, ‘‘The team is ready for the PSL and I am happy that I have a balanced squad of both experienced and youthful talent in the likes of Obey Mwerahari, Ishmael Lawi, Chris Mverechena and Livingstone Genti, among others. We have gone a long way to recruit players from across all the corners of the country. As the team leadership, we always aim for the top spot so undermine us at your peril.’’
Captain Obey Mwerahari has also promised fans a good show, adding that his teammates are up to the task.
‘‘We are coming in as underdogs but we are confident of a top-five finish. We have some experienced players who were with the squad last season and a crop of youngsters so the team is strong. The spirits are high and of course, we want to give our fans a good run just as we did last season.’’
Green Fuel’s promotion has also set up an interesting Manicaland derby as they are set to battle it out with Manica Diamonds for the provincial bragging rights.
