THE Chevrons camp has been boosted by the availability of stand-in captain Craig Ervine who was passed fit to face the West Indies in the upcoming test series.

Cricket fans were gripped with anxiety after Ervine missed the first two days of training in Bulawayo.

Zimbabwe is already missing five players who have close to half a century test caps combined and the news of Ervine missing training further put shivers into the fans.

However, Ervine declared himself fit and returned to training this Wednesday ahead of the first Test that starts this Saturday.

Ervine, who is the limited overs captain is holding fort in tests as regular captain Sean Williams is nursing an injury.

Zimbabwe has named a 14-man squad with half of it still to make their test debuts.

The Chevrons are returning to the test arena for the first time in nearly two years, having last played against Bangladesh in June 2021 at Harare Sports Club.

The West Indies have brought in a full strength squad that will give the hosts good competition.
