Lady Chevrons gaffer to be buried on Wednesday

THE late national women’s cricket team assistant coach, Sinikiwe Mpofu is set to be buried in Bulawayo this Wednesday.

Mpofu, who died on Saturday morning was part of the first-ever Lady Chevrons team to be assembled for an international match.

She later ventured into coaching and led the Mountaineers ladies’ team to Domestic Cup honours before guiding Zimbabwe’s Under 19 side to their maiden world cup this year.

Mpofu opted out of the World Cup tournament to mourn her late husband Shepherd Makunura who died a month ago.

A post-mortem will be carried out this Monday, while her body will be taken to Bulawayo this Tuesday for burial on Wednesday.

The former Lady Chevrons’ all-rounder died at the age of 37 and is survived with two children.
