CHAMPIONS, FC Platinum confirmed their dominance in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer league (PSL) after providing three players on the 2022 Soccer Star of the Year finalists.
The PSL champions have seen their best players being rewarded after a great season in which they won their fourth consecutive league title.
The Zvishavane based side is the only team with more than two players on the list voted for by a panel including journalists, team coaches and captains.
Walter Musona, who is battling with CAPS United’s William Manondo for the Best Player Award, is joined by his captain Gift Bello and shot-stopper, Wallace Magalane.
There is redemption for Dynamos defender, Frank Makarati, who was disqualified from the last soccer stars selection in 2019 on disciplinary grounds.
Nelson Chadya of Ngezi Platinum is one of the two goalkeepers who have made it onto the list of 11 finalists.
This year’s selection is dominated by attacking players who include Chicken Inn’s Brian Muza, Delic Murimba of Ngezi Platinum, Black Rhinos’ Elie Ilunga and surprise inclusion Tinotenda Benza of Herentals.
The Soccer Star of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year and the Coach of the Year will be announced at a banquet set for the second of December.
Meanwhile, Ngezi Platinum Stars coach Takesure Chiragwi has been named Coach of the Month for November, with striker Delic Murimba being the player of the month.
