ZimTrade intensifies export promotion

By Davison Vandira

Zimbabwe’s export promotion body, ZimTrade, is intensifying its quest to conquer the SADC export market after mobilising 30 companies to Botswana for the neighbouring country’s Global Expo.

This comes as ZimTrade is seeking to leverage the cordial Zimbabwe-Botswana bilateral relations to expand the country’s export base.

The export promotion body is on a drive to identify export markets in the region and beyond through outward seller missions.

The latest mission took various companies drawn from fast-moving consumer goods, agricultural inputs and implements, clothing and textiles, packaging materials, mining equipment as well as building and construction materials, to the Global Expo Botswana where they showcased their products.

The participation of local companies at the largest trade fair in Botswana is expected to grow Zimbabwe’s trade with the neighbouring country, riding on the efficient manufacturing competitiveness the country has over its counterpart.

This is the first time the trade fair has been held since 2019 after Covid-19-induced disruptions.

The participating companies are confident of breaking into the Botswana market.

Export outward seller missions are critical for Zimbabwe’s economic development matrix anchored on the National Development Strategy which is eying export-led growth.

Meanwhile, ZimTrade scooped the Best Country Pavilion Award at the expo.
