Women in Nkayi have received business starter packs under the government’s thrust to ensure inclusive empowerment.

The different starter packs were unveiled through the Zimbabwe Women’s Micro-Finance Bank.

“I got a grinding mill after being supported by the Women’s Bank. My grinding mill does stock feed and mealie meal. My business is doing well, I want to expand,” a beneficiary told the ZBC News.

Another beneficiary said, “I got a peanut butter-making machine. It is doing well for me and I want to go back to Women’s Bank for more capital to grow my business.”

After receiving technical support from the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Small and Medium Enterprises Development, the women got financial assistance from the bank which expressed its commitment to national financial inclusion.

“As a women’s bank, we are here in Nkayi to promote our financial inclusion objectives. We want to support all women in their businesses and grow their ideas into money-making entities,” Zimbabwe Women’s Microfinance Bank Head of Marketing and Public Relations, Ms Barbara Muyengwa said.

The Minister of Women Affairs, Community and SMEs Development, Honourable Sithembiso Nyoni said, “After receiving training, these women then got starter packs from the Women’s Bank. Their businesses include bakery, detergent making, soap making and all other issues.”

The empowerment projects, which are making a difference in the lives of many women within communities, dovetail with the government’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind in national development.
