FADING Harare giants CAPS United kept their relegation survival campaign on track after beating Triangle United 2-1 in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The Green Machine came back from behind in the second half to level matters with Triangle, before sealing a 2-1 victory, to mark the return of celebrations in the Makepekepe camp.
The win helped Lloyd Chitembwe’s charges to take baby steps away from the relegation zone as they look to survive the dreaded chop.
CAPS United registered their ninth win in 29 games and are in 12th position with 34 points, six points above the relegation corner.
Another giant Dynamos brought back smiles to their legion of fans after beating Manica Diamonds 1-0 to take their points tally to 53 and remain in the third position.
Second-placed Chicken Inn is on 54 points, 10 points behind log leaders FC Platinum who now look certain to bag their fourth successive title.
To complete the top four, Ngezi Platinum are on 46 points after a 3-nil win over ZPC Kariba.
Bulawayo giants Highlanders moved a place down to the fifth position with 45 points, while Herentals are sixth with 44 points.
The duo of Triangle United and Bulawayo Chiefs seal the top eight with 42 points apiece.
The bottom four include Tenax who are on 28 points, Harare City on 27, Bulawayo City on 24, while WhaWha concludes the log table with 20 points.
