An Algerian Pan African Parliament, PAP, Delegation is in the country and has pledged to enhance diplomatic ties.
The Algerian PAP delegation is led by Mr Abdelmadjid Azzedine, President of the North African Geopolitical Group within Pan African Parliament and has indicated willingness to develop economic ties between the two countries expanding from the historic and well-established political relations.
“Algeria and Zimbabwe have history, but we now want to see that the ties develop since there is willingness to engage. We want to see since we have capacity to invest so that we stop just talking, but invest. We have two commercial chambers and companies in the nations which need to be enhanced,” he said.
He also spoke of his engagement with the Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Jacob Mudenda and ZANU PF Secretary for External Affairs, Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi.
“We spoke of the high-level Parliament issues with the speaker and also the ZANU PF Secretary, we have historical relations with the party and want to develop that.”
Algeria and Zimbabwe have long standing political ties with the two countries expecting to engage on the economic front particularly now at a time Zimbabwe is exploring the oil and gas industry.
