The promotion of Green Fuel and Simba Bhora into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League will see topflight football being played in Shamva and Chisumbanje for the first time.
The elevation of Green Fuel football club will see the Chisumbanje community watching top-flight football in their backyard for the first time, provided their home ground meets Premier Soccer League standards.
Based in Chisumbanje, about 500 kilometres from Harare, Green Fuel have already started constructing a grandstand at their Football Arena with the hope of hosting PSL matches.
The same is also happening in Shamva, where Simba Bhora made it to the PSL after winning the Northern Region Division One League.
The elevation of Simba will see PSL action returning to Mashonaland Central for the first time since 2019 when Mushowani was relegated.
If Green Fuel and Simba Bhora manage to spruce up their facilities and host matches, the development will be massive for their communities.
The Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, Honourable Tino Machakaire said, “The promotion of Simba Bhora and Greenfuel is good for the nation because it spreads football to all corners and helps the youth to find something to do as well as the provinces – they will have benefits of hosting matches there by spurring on the development of those areas.”
Next season will also see premiership action returning to the coal mining town of Hwange, as either log leaders Hwange FC or second placed ZPC Hwange will be promoted.
It is now only a matter of which of the two sides will be in the league next year, with Chipangano having a five-point cushion over their neighbours ZPC Hwange with three matches to go before the end of the season.
