Lady Chevrons eye T20 World Cup debut

The Zimbabwe women national cricket team, the Lady Chevrons’ preparations for the T20 World Cup qualifiers are on track after overcoming the United Arab Emirates by 47 runs at the ongoing Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series in Dubai at the weekend.

Having won their first match against the United States of America at the weekend, the Lady Chevrons carried on with the good form when they clashed against the United Arab Emirates.

Going into today’s business, Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat first.

Zimbabwe posted 152 runs for the loss of two wickets after completing 20 overs and setting a target of 153.

In their chase, the UAE failed to reach the finishing line as they were bowled out for 125 runs after the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs, giving the Lady Chevrons a 47-run victory.

Zimbabwe will face Thailand in their third quadrangular series assignment this Tuesday.

Four teams United States, UAE, Thailand and Zimbabwe are participating at the Quadrangular Series.

The tournament is part of preparations for the four teams ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier scheduled for Abu Dhabi later in this month.
