Government has set its sights on grabbing market opportunities offered by the Mozambican export market, with 15 local companies exhibiting at the annual Maputo International Trade Fair.

ZimTrade Public Relations Manager, Danai Majaya gave an insight into areas of interest in the neighbouring country.

“Our focus is to ensure that Zimbabwean products appeal to this market, but first of all, it is incumbent upon understanding the market terrain here, but at the same time ensure consistency of supply we clinch markets here,” she said.

Exhibiting companies housed in the Zimbabwean pavilion, some of whom are exploring the Mozambican market for the first time, are excited at the prospects of establishing market linkages in that country.

The development comes after Zimbabwe and Mozambique strengthened their long-standing relationship through the signing of an agreement establishing a Bi-National Commission (BNC).

ZimTrade’s next stop in the region is Malawi where another local business contingent will also be linked to that country’s market as government seeks to achieve the 10 percent annual export growth target set in the National Development Strategy One policy blueprint.
