Zimbabwe Agricultural Show begins

The 112th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show roared into life this Monday with exhibitors confident of boosting viability and increasing access to targeted markets.

While it has attracted more exhibitors due to the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, participants are optimistic of boosting their enterprises.

“Confidence is there; we are looking for better returns,” said an exhibitor.

For the livestock sector, exhibitors are looking forward to growth and sustainability.

“The livestock growth plan is noble, but it is its ability to unlock value that is key,” said a livestock exhibitor.

Show organisers have also lined up several meetings where government, business, farmers and the private sector will discuss various agro-business issues.

“Some of the conferences include the annual agro value chains conference. There is also the mining breakfast including the Zimbabwe- Botswana Conference,” noted Zimbabwe Agricultural Society chief executive officer, Dr Andrew Matibiri.

Several entertainment programmes including education, arts and sport activities are also lined up at this year’s show which ends on Saturday.
