Defending Champions FC Platinum are ready to have another go at the prestigious Chibuku Super Cup as they get their Trophy defence underway with a date against Tenax at Mandava Stadium this Saturday.
FC Platinum are the in-form team following a good run of results that has seen them going for 11 matches without defeat in the league, letting in just one goal.
The Zvishavane-based side is aiming to capitalise on league debutants Tenax’s woes and set an early marker in the Chibuku Super Cup Tournament when they face the Mutare based side in the first round of the tournament.
Pure Platinum Play coach Norman Mapeza is hoping for a good start in the tournament.
“Coming into this Tenax game, my players are raring and eager to defend the gong and we want to win the game with a margin that will show our intentions in this cup. I’m confident of going far in this tournament and I’m hopeful that we will defend it at all costs,” he said.
The defending champions have a clear edge over their rivals after winning the two league encounters.
A 6-1 demolition at Mandava Stadium was followed by a two-nil win at Sakubva Stadium in the reverse fixture.
