President tours Kwekwe industries

THE President, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has toured two companies that recently installed new plants to increase their capacity utilisation.

President Mnangagwa’s first port of call was the explosives producing firm, Intrachem before touring the dairy processor Dendairy.

At Intrachem, the President commissioned the second phase of the firm which saw the establishment of a detonators’ plant to complement the explosives’ plant that was set up in the initial stage.

The company is investing US$seven million in establishing its plant which has an import substitution of US$20 million.

The company is 85 percent owned by locals with only 15 percent in the hands of foreigners.

At Dendairy, President Mnangagwa toured the newly installed maize products producing plant whose products are earmarked for export markets.

The plant which was installed in 2020 was set up at a total cost of US$three million which adds to the 20 million US dollars that was invested since the firm was set up in 2004.

Speaking during the tour, President Mnangagwa commended  young people  who have embraced use of science,  technology and innovation to drive the nation’s economic agenda.

President Mnangagwa  also said the nation, through  the young people should leapfrog its development agenda through science and technology to catch up with other countries.

“They are enhancing that vision and am so happy. I believe that the younger generation has so much talent. I believe that in another 5/10 years  from now, Zimbabwe  will be totally different,” said President Mnangagwa

Dendairy has a staff complement of 385 employees.
