PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa says the launch of the Acetylene Gas Plant at Feruka demonstrates the creativity of local engineers, with Verify Engineering Company becoming a pacesetter in the innovation drive to meet national and regional needs.
He was speaking at the commissioning of Verify Engineering (Pvt) Ltd Acetylene Gas Plant in Mutare this Wednesday.
“Since the advent of the Second Republic, the company has demonstrated renewed determination to be a leading innovator in the provision of cutting edge technologies and related engineering support services, to meet our current national and regional needs,” he said.
The President commended the company’s efforts in defying stereotypes associated with state entities.
“This company, along with others that have successfully turned around the fortunes of their entities, are defying stereotypes about State-owned commercial entities. These enterprises can be profitably managed, with visionary leaders at both board &management levels,” he noted.
He also spoke of the country’s import substitution strategy, highlighting that Verify Engineering was feeding well into that vision.
“The deployment of reverse engineering to produce spare parts for the business units installed here are in line with our country’s ‘Made in Zimbabwe, Buy Zimbabwe and Build Zimbabwe’ initiative and our country’s import substitution strategy,” said the President.
Acetylene is a utility industrial gas, which combined with oxygen forms oxy-acetylene that is used for metal fabrication.
It is also used as a reagent in chemical production processes.
It further improves the quality of cut metals & enhances efficiencies of gas across industries.
