Chevrons look to tame the Tigers

THE Zimbabwe national cricket team, the Chevrons are leaving no stone unturned as they prepare to face Bangladesh in three T20 internationals and three One Day International matches at Harare Sports Club.

The Chevrons are fresh from a morale-boosting adventure in which they qualified for the T20 World Cup to be staged in Australia later this year.

Before the qualifiers, the national cricket team was on a downward spiral after losing to associate nations.

However, the coming in of a new coach on the eve of the qualifiers ushered in a change of approach and the team looked confident.

New Chevrons Coach, Dave Houghton is confident his team will continue with the attacking brand of cricket.

“From the start, I told the guys how we want to play, the good thing is I am a Zimbabwean and I have also been involved in the franchise system to know how capable we are and I know our brand of cricket is attacking and that’s how we are going to approach every match win or lose we are going to okay that way, we know it’s not going to be easy against tougher opposition but we will play positive cricket,” said Dave Houghton, the Chevrons coach.

The Chevrons will be focused on finding some rhythm and momentum on this tour as they host India later in August for a three-game ODI series before travelling to Australia for another three 50-over series.

Zimbabwe will conclude their preparations this Friday with the naming of the 15-man squad that will be on duty in the upcoming series.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Tigers arrived in Zimbabwe this Wednesday evening, with a strong 15-men squad led by their captain Tamim Iqbal.

The Tigers are high on confidence after beating West Indies three-nil in the ODI series.
