THE revival of steel manufacturing giant ZISCO has gone a gear up after Kuvimba Mining House partnered Germany-based steel manufacturing giant, SMS Group.

This was revealed when executives of the German firm and Kuvimba Mining House paid a courtesy call on President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House in Harare this Tuesday.

The executives were led by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Dr Sekai Nzenza.

Kuvimba, which was awarded the tender to revive Ziscosteel, has partnered world steel giant SMS group, to ensure the deal comes to fruition.

Briefing journalists after a closed-door meeting, Dr Nzenza said the delegation was at State House to explain the proposed partnership.

“President Emmerson Mnangagwa met the SMS Group. This is one of the biggest world steel manufacturers. They want to partner Kuvimba in bringing ZISCO back to life,” she said.

SMS Group executives have an idea of the task at hand after touring the Radcliff plant this Monday.

Kuvimba Mining House chief executive officer, Mr Simba Chinyemba was excited about the prospects of the partnership.

“We don’t take the work lightly, hence partnering those who have been in the game for long. We are confident this will bring the expected results,” he said.

Kuvimba Mining House has a history of success after transforming a number of mines across the country, including Shamva Gold Mine, Bindura Nickel Corporation, Jena Gold Mine and Freda Rebecca, among others.

The revival of Zisco Steel is part of the Second Republic’s thrust towards industrial restoration while also creating thousands of employment opportunities.
