President Mnangagwa commissions Allied Timbers Sawmill Plant

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has commissioned the Allied Timbers Cashel Valley Sawmill plant in Manicaland province

The Sawmill plant is for processing timber to produce dried kiln timber.

The construction of the new plant started in 2020 with production starting in March this year.

3000 cubic metres of timber are processed per month and they are destined for the foreign market.

The Sawmill is placed at the 18 000 hectare Cashel Valley timber estate.

Allied Timbers Zimbabwe is the country’s largest timber producer and is worth US$12 million.

The state-owned commercial enterprise has a 99-year lease agreement with the Forestry Commission, which owns 60 percent of commercial forest lands in Zimbabwe.
