Young gems thump Namibia

THE Zimbabwe Under-19 netball team has provided a silver lining at a time the senior team is struggling at the tri-nations tournament in Malawi.
The Under-19 team beat Namibia 46-36 this Wednesday morning to make it three victories in three matches at the Confederation of Southern African Netball Associations (COSANA) tournament in Blantyre.
The under 19s started the tournament with a bang after a convincing 42-23 victory over Namibia before getting the better of hosts Malawi 42-37.
Their third match at the tournament, which was played this morning in Blantyre, saw Zimbabwe controlling the game but failing to take the lead in the first quarter, which ended in an 11-all stalemate.
Zimbabwe was the better side in the second quarter as they led the young Desert Dowels 26-18.
It was the same script in the third and fourth quarters as the Young gems eventually won the match 46-36
Zimbabwe will play Malawi in their final match this Thursday.
