THE Zimbabwe Netball team, the Gems, succumbed to a shock 38-34 defeat to Namibia at the ongoing Confederation of Southern Africa Netball Association (COSANA) tournament in Malawi this Monday.
It was a different script in the Tri-nations Cup for the GEMS this Monday with Namibia bouncing back to atone for their loss to Zimbabwe in their reverse fixture on Sunday.
Namibia came back in the second match a rejuvenated side and took a 10-8 lead in the first quarter.
The Gems’ attempts to turn the tables were futile as the Desert Dowels denied them any chance by stretching their lead by six points to make it 20-14 in the second quarter.
The third quarter saw Namibia maintain their dominance to take a 29-25 lead going into the last break.
While there was still hope for Zimbabwe to bounce back, it was not to be as Namibia claimed a 38-34 victory.
Zimbabwe will be hoping for better fortunes when they face power house and hosts, Malawi this evening.
