African Housing financiers and construction industry players to converge in Vic Falls

ZIMBABWE is set to host another big event with Housing financiers and construction industry players from more than 45 African countries expected to converge in Zimbabwe for the 41st Shelter Afrique Annual General Meeting slated for Victoria Falls next month.

As the country targets to build two million housing units by 2030, the continental financier Shelter Afrique’s AGM which will be held in Victoria Falls from the 25th to the 29th of next month, is expected to boost the housing and social amenities sector, with experts from more than 45 African countries expected to deliberate on the provision of affordable and sustainable housing among other issues.

Briefing the media this Monday, National Housing and Social Amenities Minister Honourable Daniel Garwe revealed that the country is set to assume chairmanship of the continental financier, with construction of climate friendly buildings coming under the spotlight.

A series of events running concurrently with the AGM include a groundbreaking ceremony by His Excellency for the construction of walk up flats, a business exhibition and a symposium aimed at creating an avenue for collaboration and synthesizing emergency lessons,” he said.

The country’s membership in the financier is expected to boost housing in the country, with the company already extending a US$25 million loan facility to Zimbabwe.
