8 athletes selected for the Africa senior championships

EIGHT athletes have left the country for the Africa Senior Championships, which roar into life in Mauritius this Wednesday.

National champions; Ngoni Makusha and Michelle Zuze are among eight Zimbabwean athletes who will gun for glory at the Africa Senior Championships in Mauritius this week.

“The team for Mauritius has left and we hope they are going to do their best and this time we have sent a mixture of seniors and juniors including sprinters and high jumpers of different categories. The championships will also serve as a qualifier for the Oregon World Champions,” said Tendai Tagara, NAAZ president.

The continental championships will run until the 12th of this month at the Cote d’Or National Sports Complex.

The Phakamile Lisimati led delegation includes Gerren Muwishi, Dickson Kamungeremu, Tapiwa Makarawu and Artwell Simon.

The National Junior Championships saw the likes of Panashe Nhenga and Denzel Siamulela, moving up to senior level.

US-based athlete Ashley Miller is set to make her debut for Zimbabwe alongside foreign based high jumper Kudakwashe Chadenga.
