Seven Seas wins OK Grand Challenge

By Lawrence Trusida

SEVENS Seas from the Ghokan Terzi stable romped to victory at the OK Grand Challenge horse race after outwitting an eighteen member horse field at Borrowdale Race Course this Saturday.

With the 1800 meter OK Grand Challenge being upgraded to a grade one race, the incentives were huge and the big boys turned up.

As usual the Ghokan Terzi yard is one of the biggest yards in Zimbabwe and usually one to look out for and they didn’t disappoint with four horses in the race.

One of those, Seven Seas which was not even one of the favorites shocked the race after romping to victory in a tightly contested race.

With 500 meters to go, the tussle was between Holy Land and True Beauty but out of nowhere Seven Seas outwitted the cast with a strong finish.

Trainer Ghokan Terzi was delighted with a second consecutive win in the race after winning it last year with Fichatton.

This is massive to have two wins in a row and it is paying the price for the hard work we have been putting in, so it’s a massive lift especially for us local trainers,” he said.

Returning Jockey, Klink was ecstatic.

I trusted the endurance of my horse and gave it a big push at the end and I am happy to return and get a victory,” he noted.

True Beauty which won the Castle Tankard last month settled for second while Holy Land was a close third.
