PSL first half of the season expected to end with a bang

THE much-anticipated Harare Derby featuring old foes Caps United and Dynamos at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday will signal the end of the first half of the premier soccer league season as the top flight takes a two-week break.

Football lovers will be hoping to have memories and talking points that can cover the two weeks break with the Harare derby being the toast of this weekend’s fixtures.

While the setting does not signal a vintage Makepekepe/Dembare match, a derby is still a derby and the script can only be written at the end of the 90 minutes.

Caps United have lost their last five matches, while Dynamos are win-less in their last three, but form counts for nothing in these duels.

The blue half of the capital reckons this is the biggest match.

“This is the biggest match for us and we need to show up. It doesn’t matter what you have done before we need to show up in the derby,” said Tonderai Ndiraya, Dynamos coach.

For Caps United, the worst is over and they are ready.

We are in a good mood, while that does not win matches it is the first step, we have put in the yards and the guys a raring to go, the results haven’t reflected the hard work we have out in but I believe this is the time,” said coach, Lloyd Chitembwe.

The two teams have each picked up two wins and a draw in their last five meetings in the league.

Dynamos will be boosted by the availability of left back Brendon Mpofu who crossed the floor from Caps United in the last transfer window, but they will miss Tinotenda Muringai who is still injured, while the Green Machine have a clean bill of health.

3pm Central African time, the derby will come alive and after 90 minutes, who is going to take the capital bragging rights?

Can the Green Machine restart motion in the derby or will the Glamour Boys shine again?

Sunday has all the answers.
