Caps United hope for a change of fortunes

Fading Harare giants Caps United are hoping for change of fortune when they clash with city rivals Dynamos in the latest edition of the Harare Derby at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Caps United are enduring one of their worst spells after a five-game losing streak in the league and are facing a Dynamos side which has also coincidentally failed to win in their last three matches.

Makepekepe started the year brightly with strikers William Manondo and Rodwell Chinyengetere driving the Green Machine with their goals.

However, CAPS United have lost their way since the industrial action that delayed the start of their match against Cranborne Bullets with players protesting over unpaid dues.

“Of course, we have our challenges, but this game is different and it will provide a turnaround for us. As you saw, the boys are in good mood and very jovial. We are ready for Dynamos come Sunday and we will give our all,” said Caps United striker, Rodwell Chinyengetere.

In the last five derbies, the two teams have an identical record as they have two wins apiece and a draw in the league but when the two teams meet it’s all about bragging rights.

Dynamos midfielder King Nadolo said, “We are playing for three points to get back to our winning ways. We know we haven’t played well in the past few games, but we are motivated for this one and we want to play our game, this is a derby and we must win it.”

The Harare Derby is a unique match that has brought the clubs’ chairpersons together.
