THE Zimbabwe Fifteens Rugby Team is gearing up for the final three weeks of preparations ahead of a European tour which includes test matches and World Cup qualifiers in July.

The national rugby team has been competing in the Currie Cup first division in South Africa under the banner, Goshawks as part of preparations for the World Cup Qualifiers slated for July in France.

The team has three wins out of six matches, with three more matches to go before the end of the competition.

“I am very happy as I said from the start it was never about results in this competition, we wanted to give our players game time and competition against quality opposition something that lacks in Zimbabwe and I must say we have had 10 weeks of camp so far and we now have an idea of how our squad is like,” said Goshawks Coach, Brendan Dawson.

The team is now shifting focus to the tour of Europe that will see Zimbabwe playing a test match against a European country for the first time in 30 years.

The World Cup squad is expected to be announced on the 10th of June as more players troop into camp after the conclusion of their overseas leagues.
