Zimbabwe’s captains of industry and commerce are expecting business leadership skills to advance productivity in line with the National Development Strategy One aspirations.

In this regard, the launch of the Business Leadership Skills project provided a platform for industrialists to share ideas on the impact of prudent management of firms in accelerating growth.

Legacy Building Leadership Coaching Community president, Dr. Charles Mugaviri explained the importance of the project.

“It is a project that is coming at the right time when we need to sit down and identify challenges hindering productivity and assess how good leadership skills can be the ideal solution to consolidate growth and further create opportunities for projects both locally and externally,” he said.

Pan African Chamber of Commerce board member, Mr Langton Mabhanga, Zimbabwe’s industry should also not lag behind on latest forms of entrepreneurship development skills.

“An entrepreneur is also identified as a key focal point in business growth such that questions arises as to how and what can be done to enhance growth and fulfill the ideal forms of profitability. This therefore brings to the fore the issues to do with skills development,” he noted.

Standards Association of Zimbabwe director general, Dr. Eve Gadzikwa revealed how business stands to benefit from modern leadership skills on productivity.

“We are living in a global village where markets are being opened up such that the real matter is the extent to which us as directors of companies are committed to embrace skills that match latest standards in terms of product and service delivery for the growth of firms.”

The NDS1 states that productivity is key to the achievement of positive yearly growth rates.
