THE Dubai-based group of investors who are exploring investment opportunities in Zimbabwe have been charmed by the country’s agriculture sector.

The visiting delegation of Indian and Dubai-based business people met officials from the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development in Harare this Thursday.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr John Basera took the opportunity to draw the attention of the delegation to opportunities in Zimbabwe’s agriculture sector.

“It was a fulfilling presentation that offered the delegation a lot of opportunities in various sub-sectors. The irrigation thrust that we are undertaking was also a selling point for the investors including agro-processing,” said Dr Basera.

The investors are excited by what Zimbabwe has to offer given the government’s renewed thrust to transform the agricultural sector into an US$8 billion industry.

“Some of these investors have already made up their minds to invest in Zimbabwe because of such a presentation. We will continue with this tour and are very confident that we will commit to more investments in this country,” said Shaj Ul Mulk, the leader of the delegation.

The business delegation is also set to meet captains of industry and key players in the financial services sector where they are also scouting for returnable investments.
