BULAWAYO giants, Highlanders seem to be struggling to find a winning formula after settling for their fifth consecutive draw of the season at the weekend.

Week 14 in the Castle Premier Soccer League was characterised by draws with six out of the eight matches ending in stalemates, but for Bulawayo giants, Highlanders it was their fifth in a row.

Highlanders last tasted victory in March when they dispatched Yadah three nil at Barbourfields stadium.

Since then, they have played five more matches in the league with all of them ending in a share of the spoils.

In total, Bosso have seven draws, a mere three wins and three defeats in 14 matches this season.

For a club of Highlanders’ stature, these statistics should be worrying, more so with their three victories coming over bottom club Bulawayo City, struggling Yadah and students Herentals.

Highlanders have 16 points and lie in the bottom half of the table and their multitude of fans will be worried to learn that at this early stage of the season, they are already 14 points adrift of log leaders and bitter rivals, Dynamos.

The black and white army’s Achilles Heel has been finding the back of the net especially against renowned opposition as in matches against FC Platinum, Ngezi Platinum Stars, Chicken Inn, Triangle United, Manica Diamonds and Caps United they have only managed to score just three goals.

Time is a defining factor and the more the status quo prevails, most likely changes will follow.

Meanwhile, Dynamos missed a chance to move four points clear at the top after being held to a one-all draw by Bulawayo City at the National Sports Stadium, after second-placed Chicken Inn had dropped points on Saturday following a nil all draw against Herentals.

Tenax and Triangle United shared the spoils after a one-all draw, while on Saturday Harare City and Manica Diamonds played out to a goalless draw.

Ngezi Platinum Stars had to come from behind to force a one-all draw against Black Rhinos, while FC Platinum walloped Caps United three-nil in the peak of the weekend’s fixtures.

A new broom has brought glad tidings at ZPC Kariba with Rodwell Dhlakama beginning life in the resort town with a one-nil victory over Whawha.

Dynamos are still at the top of the log with 30 points from 14 matches followed by Chicken Inn who have 28 points, with Triangle keeping pace in third with 24 points.

The bottom three sides did not change with Bulawayo City anchoring the table, on seven points, while Whawha are just above them on eight points.
