THE Caps United saga has taken a new twist after the fading Harare giants backed down on the decision to fire six players for protesting against the non-payment of their dues.
A club meeting held this Tuesday at Standard Chartered Sports Club, resolved to show the exit door to Goalkeeper Simba Chinani, Defender Dennis Dauda and Striker Clive Augusto.
“We really wanted to find out who the ring leaders were, we are a big brand and institution. I would like to confirm that after conducting hearings and investigations three players for now are no longer part of the CAPS United, but investigations are still on course and if there are any additional players we will confirm,” said CAPS United Administrator, Morton Dodzo.
The club’s legion of fans also voiced their concerns over the players’ conduct.
The latest development means Devon Chafa, Rodwell Chinyengetere and Captain Ronald Chitiyo have been spared although Chitiyo was conspicuous by his absence during the meeting.

“We feel we should have avoided confrontation and do better in our demands, we really apologise and going forward we will do our best to respect the club and our supporters,” he said.
This is not the first time that the Green Machine has fired players over industrial action.
In 2012 they let go of a number of key players including the then captain Nyasha Mukumbi, former captain David Sengu and goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda and two years ago then captain Hardlife Zvirekwi was released over the same issues.
This season Caps United started their preparations late owing to lack of funds and just recently the players were not training, demanding their dues.
Meanwhile, Mhondoro based side, Ngezi Platinum Stars have parted ways with Chief Executive Officer, Nyasha Kadenge who has been running the club since their promotion into the top flight league in 2016.
The club’s Communications Manager Roberta Chombe confirmed the development but could not shed more light on the decision although sources are citing unprofessional conduct.
