Women’s bank empowerment milestones

The Zimbabwe Women’s Microfinance Bank has recorded significant growth over the past two years, and in the process transformed lives with women setting up viable business ventures.

Propelled by government’s inclusive development thrust, the Zimbabwe Women’s Microfinance Bank – ZWMB is content with its expansion drive which lured over 1000 0clients.

Reflecting on the progress achieved by the bank at the ZITF Grounds in Bulawayo this Wednesday evening, the Chairperson of the financial institution, Dr Mathew Kunaka restated commitment to achieve the set target of empowering at least 4.5 million female entrepreneurs.

“We are aware of the initial mandate prescribed to us at the inception of the bank. As we celebrate tonight we want assure our stakeholders that we will continue empowering women,” he said.

Government ministers commended ZWMB for including rural areas in their programmes.

“I am proud of ZWMB for successfully moving ahead with the agenda of ensuring economic equity in our motherland,” said the Minister of Women Affairs, Community and Medium Enterprises Development, Dr Sithembiso Nyoni.

“As the Secretary of Administration in the Women’s League. We are motivated by women success stories supported by the bank,” said Senator Monica Mutsvangwa.

Government has consistently availed grants to ZWMB as part of its empowerment agenda which has seen a steady increase of female manufacturers and exporters.
