Black Rhinos seek to transform into a professional outfit

ARMY side Black Rhinos is looking for more commercial partners that will help the club achieve its goal of being a standalone professional club.

The army side has been a pale shadow of the team that used to be a force to reckon with in the 1980s winning the 1984 and 1987 league titles.

With a rich background, Brigadier General Sipho Sibanda, who is in charge of training in the Zimbabwe National Army, challenged the club to look for more partners and transform the club into standalone professional outfit.

He was speaking at a kit handover by Fossil Agro Tuesday night.

“Our club has what it takes to conquer the league again, we did it way back and we can do it again. We need to transform this team into a fully professional team and it’s partnerships like these that will help and we need more,” saidBrigadier General Sibanda.

The club received playing and training kits from Fossil Agro as well as tracksuits and travel gear for match days.

The Army side is 8th on the Premier Soccer league table ahead of this Saturday’s encounter against Tenax at Sakubva stadium.

The weekend’s matches however, kick-off on Friday with Yadah taking on Triangle at the National Sports Stadium, while on Saturday, defending champions FC Platinum visit the capital for a date against Herentals.

It is a Bulawayo affair as struggling Bulawayo City host Bulawayo Chiefs at Barbourfields stadium, while Ngezi Platinum Stars are up against Harare City at Baobab stadium.

The last match of the day will see out of sorts Whawha taking on log leaders, Dynamos.

Action continues on Sunday with the Bulawayo derby between Highlanders and Chicken Inn taking centre stage at Barbourfields stadium, Manica Diamonds take on faltering ZPC Kariba at Sakubva, while Caps United host Cranborne Bullets at the National Sports Stadium.
