Lady Chevrons win Capricorn-series

THE Zimbabwe women national cricket team, the Lady Chevrons are basking in glory after winning the Capricorn T20 Tri-Series with a seven wicket victory over hosts Namibia in Windhoek this Tuesday.
Nomvelo Sibanda’s brilliant bowling led the Lady Chevrons to an emphatic victory in the Capricorn T20 Tri-Series.
The hosts batted first and were dismissed for 70 runs in just 13 overs, thanks to left armer Nomvelo Sibanda who took five wickets for 14 runs in just three overs.
Sibanda grabbed her three wickets early on and went on to claim two more in her final over to record her career best figures.
She was ably supported by spinner Precious Marange who grabbed two wickets for 16 runs.
17 year old opener Kellis Ndlovu led Zimbabwe’s charge with the bat, top scoring with 33 runs as the Lady Chevrons reached the target in just nine overs.
Captain Mary-Anne Mary Musonda was not out for 21 as the Lady Chevrons leave Namibia with their heads held high after a scare in the first match when they lost to Uganda.
The tri-series was part of Zimbabwe’s preparations for the International Cricket Council Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers set for Scotland in August.
