Dynamos reclaim top spot

HARARE giants, Dynamos made a huge statement of intent after beating title aspirants, Manica Diamonds to cement their position at the top of the log after 12 weeks of Premier Soccer League action.

The win was Dynamos’ 8th victory of the season and more impressively, it was against title aspirants, Manica Diamonds who had gone for seven games without defeat.

DeMbare have been powered by a strong defence that has only let in four goals in 12 matches.

While critics have raised questions over the Glamour Boys’ style of play, coach Tonderai Ndiraya is only concerned about the results.

“At this institution, it’s about results. I will be judged by results not style. I am a very direct coach, that’s my philosophy. There are some who pass the ball like I don’t know and that is their style. As for me, I am concerned about the results because that is what will win us matches,” said Ndiraya.

DeMbare are top of the log with 26 points courtesy of a superior goal difference over second-placed Chicken Inn.

Triangle moved into third position on 23 points after edging Caps United at Gibbo Stadium this Sunday, while early pacesetters Manica Diamonds and Ngezi Platinum Stars who romped to their first victory under new coach, Benjani Mwaruwari, complete the top five with 20 points apiece.

On the other end of the spectrum, Bulawayo City anchor the log with a mere six points, while Whawha are just two points above them.

ZPC Kariba, who have hit a bad patch, conclude the bottom three with 10 points.
