HARARE City men and women volleyball teams asserted their dominance after winning the Zimbabwe Volleyball open this Monday.
A long weekend of volleyball action culminated in a Harare derby this Monday with Harare City and UZ Wolves men locking horns in the Zimbabwe Volleyball open final at the University of Zimbabwe.
Having lost 2-1 to UZ Wolves in the group stage, Harare City were on a mission and they duly delivered despite an early scare after their opponents won the first two sets.
City eventually clawed their way back and reduced the arrears after picking up the third set and force the match into a fourth set.
They went on to win the fourth and decisive fifth set to make the winners’ podium courtesy of a 3-2 victory.
Not to be outdone were Harare City ladies who got the better of Manyame Falcons after a comfortable 3-1 win.
Meanwhile, Black Rhinos settled for third place, while Naba came fourth in the men’s category.
In the Women’s pool, UZ Wolves ended on third place, while Vipers were fourth.
