Zimbabwe finishes top at the Cana Zone IV swimming championships

THE Zimbabwe swimming team is basking in glory after topping the medals table at the Cana Zone Four swimming championship held in Lusaka, Zambia at the weekend.
Zimbabwe’s quest for glory at the CANA Zone IV championships ended in the best possible way this Sunday after the swimming team topped the medals table. .
Zimbabwe won four medals in the men and women’s 200m butterfly events with Mkhuseli Mahobele winning gold, Onesmimus Ngwenya getting silver, while Tarirai Madamombe and Olivia Acconsi won bronze each.
In the 100m freestyle, Cory Werret came first to win the gold, while Ruvarashe Choto, Tori Dawe, Kiara Goodinson and Benjamin Rorke begged silver medals in their respective age groups with Kyle Guta getting bronze.
Cory Werret went on to win his second gold medal in the individual medley with Kayden Bhana winning bronze in the 200m.
Tori Dawe, Ruvarashe Choto, Tanatswa Chandiwana and Tafadzwa Chandiwana showed their prowess in the 14 and Under 200m relay were they won gold
In the boy’s pool, Khaya Vimba, Kayden Bhana, Kyle Guta and Limbikani Kalipenguli bagged silver medals.
In the 15 over girls category Donata Katai, Riana Rollo, Vherekai Dhemba and Tanatsirwa Chitsurura won silver while in the boys’ field Cory Werret, Bjorn Mhlanga, Ryan Franceys and Benjamin Rorke also came second.
The outstanding performance by Zimbabwean swimmers saw the country topping the medals table followed by Mozambique and hosts Zambia to complete the top three.
