The award which was handed over at an event held in Cape Town, South Africa has been welcomed by tourism players in the city, who expressed commitment towards building a sustainable future for communities and the environment.
“It means a lot for Victoria Falls to be recognized in this category. We have an extraordinary community, and we live our values. We are responsible for one of the seven natural wonders of the world, and we want to be a world leader in sustainability, conservation and responsible tourism,” said Shelly Cox, a representative of We are Victoria Falls.
Warren Ncube, a tourism expert said, “This is great news for the Destination and well deserved. “Victoria Falls has received a number of noticeable awards and it is good for the destination, this gives a very good picture and some highlights about the destination to the world,” said another tourism expert Mercy Mushangwe.
Another tourism expert Lovemore Machipisa said, “We are very excited and we are ready to receive visitors in Victoria Falls.”
