Zimbabwe’s swimming duo bags two medals

ZIMBABWE’S swimming duo of Teak Watson and Khaya Vimba begged two medals in the men’s 100m breaststroke at the ongoing South Africa National Swimming Championships.
Despite a slow start for Zimbabwean swimmers in the opening day, the national representatives managed to make a quick turnover at the ongoing South Africa national junior tournament.
The second day saw Zimbabwe’s Teak Watson winning a silver medal while Khaya Vimba settled for bronze in the 100m breaststroke.
Jayden de Swardt a managed a personal best time in the 400m breaststroke, although he failed to make the podium positions.
Tichatonga Makaya, Patrick Duff and Limbikani Kalipenguli all broker their personal best times in the 200m freestyle event.
In the women’s category, the ever reliable Donata Katai came second in the 100m backstroke and progressed to the final.
Mikayla Makwabarara became the first swimmer in the 50m freestyle final, while Alexis Johnson made a personal best in the 100m backstroke.
Meanwhile, the South Africa National Junior Championships will be used to select two swimmers per age group for the CANA Zone IV championships to be held from the 14th to the 18th of April in Zambia.
