A tough and exciting Midlands derby pitting defending champions FC Platinum and Whawha is set to explode at Mandava Stadium this Saturday.

Rooted on eighth position, nine points behind early pacesetters Chicken Inn, FC Platinum are confident that a win at their own backyard against minnows Whawha FC in the Midlands derby will mark the turning point of their fortunes.

The Norman Mapeza-coached side have been blunt in front of goal this season with just 10 goals in 9 outings, but the gaffer remains confident that they will end the rough patch.

“We have a lot of youngsters in our team and they have been preparing well for this Midlands derby and they are raring to go. We are confident of winning the game basing on previous performances,” said Norman Mapeza, FC Platinum Head coach.

In their previous six encounters FC Platinum have managed to get better of the struggling Chekera Pasi four times and drawing twice.

In other Match Day 10 fixtures on Saturday, Yadah will entertain Herentals at Baobab Stadium in Ngezi, ZPC Kariba take on Harare City at Nyamhunga Stadium, Cranborne Bullets square off with Bulawayo City at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare, while log leaders Chicken Inn will be hoping to maintain pole position when they meet Manica Diamonds at Luveve Stadium.

On Sunday, Tenax welcome Caps United at Sakubva Stadium, Triangle take on Highlanders at Gibbo, Bulawayo Chiefs play Ngezi Platinum Stars at Luveve Stadium and Dynamos will be hoping to continue with their winning formula when they square off with army side Black Rhinos at the National Sport Stadium.
