ALLIANCE Health Eagles Women succumbed to their first defeat in the Domestic Cricket T20 tournament after losing to Rhinos by 5 wickets at Old Hararians Sports Club this Tuesday.
The domestic Cricket T20 tournament entered its fifth day this Tuesday as Alliance Health Eagles opened the day against Rhinos hoping to continue with their winning streak.
Rhinos won the toss and elected to field, with the Eagles setting a target of 96 runs after posting 95 for 9 in 20 overs.
Modester Mupachikwa was the star of the show with 34 runs.
Rhinos were clinical in their chase reaching the target with 98 runs for 5 in 20 overs to end Eagles’ unbeaten run with a 5 wicket victory.
The other encounter was between Tuskers and Mountaineers and Tuskers led by Captain Nomvelo Sibanda won the toss and opted to bat first.
Tuskers delivered a competitive target of 130 after posting 129 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs.
In response, Mountaineers reached the finishing line with 130 runs for 2 in 20 overs to win by 8 wickets.
In the men’s category, Alliance Health Eagles were up against Southern Rocks at Old Hararians sports club.
Rocks won the toss and elected to bat and managed to post 146 runs in 20 overs.
It was not challenging enough for Health Eagles as they won the match after delivering 147 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 18.1 overs to win by 7 wickets.
At Harare Sports Club, Tuskers clashed with Mountaineers and opted to bat first to post 116 for 9, setting a target of 117 runs.
Mountaineers responded in ruthless fashion to meet the target after posting 118 runs for 2 to win by 8 wickets.
This Wednesday, Alliance Health Eagles face Mountaineers while Tuskers clash with Rhinos in the Women’s pool.
Southern Rocks will clash with Tuskers in the men’s side.
