Dynamos and Triangle charge for the top

FORMER Harare City Striker William Manondo is reminding football fans of how good he is in front of goal with the forward leading CAPS United’s revival after scoring eight goals in nine games.

If it was a test for chlorophyll on a tree leaf CAPS United’s William Manondo would be the leaf dissolving in boiling ethanol to turn it into green.

The prolific striker, who is popularly known as Mr Chibuku for being the top scorer in the history of the cup competition, is now gunning for a similar title in the League where he is scoring for fun.

Manondo is now the top flight’s leading goal scorer with eight goals after scoring a brace in CAPS United’s 3-2 victory over Herentals at the weekend.

His teammate and two-time soccer star of the year Rodwell Chinyengetere is also proving that he still has what it takes to compete at the top level with his consistency in front of goal.

Chinyengetere scored the other goal in Caps United’s 3-2 win which saw The Green Machine move up to 6th, eight points behind log leaders Chicken Inn.

Highlanders’ Nqobizitha Masuku is also doing well and is arguably the best midfielder in the country at the moment.

Masuku is Highlanders’ top goal scorer with five goals after scoring in Bosso’s 3-0 win against Yadah sending the Bulawayo giants up to 10th with 12 points.

Brian Muza of Chicken Inn and Manica Diamonds’ Nyasha Chintuli are also doing well and are just a goal behind Manondo with seven goals each.

Meanwhile, Chicken Inn remain at the top of the Log standings with 22 points, three points ahead of a charging second placed Dynamos and Triangle in 3rd who both have 19 points, but are separated by goal difference.

Manica Diamonds slumped to fourth with 18 points, while Ngezi Platinum are fifth with 15 points.

At the other end of the log, Craneborne Bullets are fighting to step away from the relegation zone with six points, while the trio of Bulawayo City, Yadah and Whawha are the log’s bottom three.
