Mighty Warriors drop seven places in world rankings

THE Zimbabwe women’s national football team, the Mighty Warriors, have dropped seven places on the FIFA world rankings after failing to qualify for the Africa Women Cup of Nations slated for Morocco in July.

While it might have little significance after Zimbabwe was suspended from international football by FIFA, the Mighty Warriors’ failure to qualify for the Africa Women Cup of Nations has seen them dropping seven places on the World rankings to position 127.

Losing 3-1 at home to lowly ranked Botswana who are at the 154th positioon sent the Mighty Warriors tumbling down the rankings after dropping 17.31 points.

Zimbabwe is currently facing the wrath of FIFA after the Sports and Recreation Commission refused to reinstate the ZIFA board, thus grounding all football national teams.

Meanwhile, United States leads the women football World rankings while Nigeria heads the African continent.

The next women’s world rankings will be released on June 17 before the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations kicks off in July.
