While the nation’s focus at the weekend was on the Platinum derby and the Battle of the cities, Harare giants Dynamos were the biggest movers after collecting maximum points with victory over ZPC Kariba.
The Harare giants are not usually a team to be overshadowed but the weekend’s lineup of fixtures saw them moving down the pecking order.
However, with the focus on other matches, the Harare giants took the opportunity to notch their third win on the trot.
Before the match, Head Coach Tonderai Ndiraya called on his boys to be consistent and they duly obliged and now he believes he has a championship squad.
“We now have quality and we think we can challenge for the league and we are in a good position, hopefully, we can maintain that,” he said.
The win keeps Dynamos just three points behind log leaders, Chicken Inn who beat Black Rhinos 2-1 at Luveve Stadium.
The Game Cocks have 19 points from eight matches, followed by Manica Diamonds who are two points behind after being held to a one-all draw by Cranborne Bullets, with Dynamos in third place on 16 points.
Triangle have the same number of points as DeMbare, while Ngezi Platinum Stars complete the top five after beating rivals FC Platinum 1-nil at Mandava Stadium.
Cranborne Bullets continue to anchor the log with three points, while Whawha and Yadah have five points each after eight matches.
