A cloud of uncertainty hangs over Dynamos football club after board chairman, Bernard Marriot refused to accept the outcome of an Electoral College meeting that elected a new board of trustees led by Ernest Kamba.
A legal battle is ensuing at Dynamos after club legends and other former players who met at the weekend reconstituted the Electoral College and elected a new Board of Trustees under the 1963 constitution.
However, Benard Marriot-Lusengo, who has been the club’s board chairperson, has called the meeting a legal nullity.
In a statement, Lawyer Fungai Nyamayaro, who is the secretary of the board led by Marriot said the election of a new board of trustees is a non-event as the 1963 constitution is no longer in existence with Dynamos now a Private Limited registered in 1999.
But members of the new board led by Ernest Kamba insist they are now in charge based on the 1963 constitution.
“There are a number of issues that we need to rectify, the club has been running for ten years outside the club’s constitution, so it’s going to take us a little bit of time to follow all correct channels to be in full control but it’s not a difficult issue, it needs time because there are challenges that we need to follow, as for the 51% issue we are following the case we are surprised that its taking its time maybe it is from the eyes of layman but we see it as a clear card case and the club is run under the 1963 constitution not anything else,” said Ernest Kamba, Dynamos board of trustees chairperson.

The legends and former players who met at the weekend, elected Kamba as the new chairman of the board of trustees and he will be deputised by Sunday Chidzambwa.
The secretary is Eric Aisam while Cremio Mapfumo comes in as the treasurer.
The other members of the board of trustees are Moses Chunga, Makwinji Soma-Phiri, Clayton Munemo, David George, Ignatius Kapfunde and Laban Kandi.
Contacted for further comment, Marriot said he is attending to a family bereavement but promised to get back to this news crew on Thursday.
