MAVERICKS continued with their dominance in the Bulawayo Basketball League with their Men’s and Women’s sides cruising to victory at the weekend.
Khanyisile Basketball courts was the centre of attraction at the weekend, with some thrilling action in both Men’s and Women’s A leagues.
In the Men’s A-League, Mavericks who are yet to taste defeat this season continued with their impressive form when they suffocated 6th placed Clippers 90-33.
Second-placed Giants kept their title aspirations alive when they dismantled struggling NUST A 81- 34.
The defeat left NUST-A in 7th place with just two wins in 9 outings.
Third-placed Lakers-A, who are still in contention for the title dispatched bottom-placed City Knights 90- 19, with Taboyamulimu Mathe scoring 20 points for the winning side.
The match between Highlanders and Legends was a tight contest with Highlanders eventually proving to be the better side after claiming a 48-38 victory.
In the women’s A-League, log leaders Mavericks showed why they are as good as their male counterparts when they dismantled bottom-placed NUST women 78-13.
In the one way game, Charmaine Khumalo of Mavericks was the shining star for the day with an impressive 16 points.
Third-placed Lakers-A Women rediscovered the winning formula when they razed down City Royals 72 -16.
The loss saw City Royals dropping to 6th from 5th position.
Another interesting match between second-placed Angels and 4th placed Lakers Mzansi saw the two sides being separated by just a point with the title chasers winning it 33-32.
