RWANDA is confident of increasing trade and business ties with Zimbabwe as companies from the Central African economy search for new opportunities.
Rwandan Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency James Musoni revealed to ZBC News that a business conference slated for this month in Harare will see investors from the East African nation further exploring possible ways to boost partnerships.
“This is the second leg of our meetings remember the first one was held In Kigali now our firms are also coming to Zimbabwe, with the mission being to explore business opportunities,” he said.
University of Zimbabwe Business School Chairperson, Dr Nyasha Kaseke outlined the importance of increased bilateral trade between the two economies.
“There are benefits that will accrue based on the comparative advantages of the two economies and how they intend to balance trade,” said Dr Kaseke.
For ZimTrade Chief Executive Officer, Allan Majuru, it is the ability for local firms to tap into Rwandese export markets that is critical.
“Our firms indeed have a role to play in venturing into that strategic market and I hope we have done all we can to market exports,” he said.
Rwanda recently revealed to Zimbabwean trade authorities on the vast opportunities in sectors such as agro-processing, manufacturing, ICT, construction, fruits and vegetables, agriculture and energy, among others.
